Rainy Monday and Farewell FHE

April 20  Monday

Today started the last week we will be in Brazil.  Kind of depressing - and it rained all day.

One thing I won't miss here is how the milk is packaged.  This was demonstrated again as David tried to pour the plastic bag of milk into a pitcher.  It was all over the cupboard when he was done.  To not waste it, he used a piece of bread to soak it up - I guess that is one way to get bread and milk.  Merl aptly said, "Don't cry over spilled milk."

We received a phone call from the Copas mid morning.  They were at the at Daupers store and wondered if we wanted them to pick us up something.  We requested a bag of the fruited granola and a couple of bags of cookies.  We love the Daupers cookies!

Merl was totally out of clean socks, so we decided do to a load of laundry - even though it was raining.  Between the rain, high humidity, and wet clothes hanging around the apartment, everyone was feeling the chill.  Ann was still fighting a cold - just a downer day all around.

A bright spot was that Hotel Costa Norte called saying that they were sending us the computer cord for $R34.  Both Merl and I have been lost without the computer so that was welcome news.  Ann has kindly allowed me to use her computer to assist in catching up on the blog - I'm just too far behind.

Merl pulled out our biggest suitcase and started packing it with things we weren't needing.  It filled quickly.  We had one medium and three small bags left to hold everything we owned here.  We could see that it wasn't going to work - we will probably need to purchase another suitcase.

Pres. Marcos Milkiewicz and family invited us to their home for dinner, Family Home Evening, and farewells.  Aristeu and Meri picked us up (David, Merl, me) to take us to the Milkiewicz home along with our waffle iron and all the ingredients to make three big batches of batter.   Natalia fell asleep in the back of the car in spite of her parent's attempts to keep her awake.

After we arrived, the men gathered in the game room to play snooker.   Merl learned that he doesn't know a lot about snooker.  Saionara and Meri started a big batch of paceco (pinion nuts, sausage, onions, garlic, hamburger) in the kitchen.  It always takes a long time to prepare enough waffles for a crowd using one waffle iron.  After we had enough to start, everyone gathered for dinner - enjoying paceco and waffles with all kinds of toppings.

Others invited were Pres. and Sis. Nunes; Oraci and Camila Feijó and children; Valdezar and Roseangela Silva, Rodrigo and Danuabia Macedo and children; Jhonatas Romares Dos Santos.

After an opening song and prayer, everyone shared their testimonies and gave thanks for each other.  It is always a spiritual experience to share time with all of these good people.  We gave peanut butter and maple flavoring to the families, and then Pres. Nunes gave us a ride home.  It was at least 11:30 p.m. when we arrived home (Ann was getting a bit worried about us).
