Merl woke up at 4:30 a.m. to rewrite his funeral talk; I suspect that he left his notebook and phone in David's car because he hasn't been able to find them anywhere. Today is the last day to put something together. (Merl - The words, thoughts and feelings returned to my heart and mind, and the talk was written without my notes. Sometimes the Lord just helps us through these more difficult times.)
I did a load of laundry and started repacking the suitcases. The most important things to go back with us are the clothes we need for Florianopolas. We will not be going to Canela first to pick anything up. So it is either take it with us now - or buy something there (not a bad idea).
When David (Davidson - our renter) came home from work, Merl and he went outside and turned on the sprinkler system. Then the next jobs to tackle was to see why the kitchen sink was leaking and to check out the sump pump to see why it was not working properly. A pipe was broken under the sink - easy fix. I was sent to town to pick up plumbing parts for the kitchen sink.
Curtis (who is functioning as our property manager) was very glad we came home when we did. He didn't mind buying a new refrigerator and a new furnace, replacing a toilet tank, collecting the rent. . . but cleaning out the sump pump was a bit much to ask. "It's a smelly job, but somebody's got to do it." Merl learned that an overabundance of comet in the sump container is not good. Everything was caked with a white muck that was interfering with the operation. With rubber gloves he cleaned out the sump and adjusted the float. The Davidson's should be taken care of for now. (should've taken a picture of this one!)

After the viewing, the ten children and spouses practiced the song "Each Life That Touches Ours for Good" which we will sing at the funeral tomorrow. Anna (Curt's wife) was asked to accompany the group.
