Fondue Party and Christmas Lights

December 24, Wednesday

Again got home in time to run to the bus to catch a ride to Gramado and dinner with members of the temple presidency and temple missionaries.  The mission president was to have been there but had to cancel due to missionary transfers being moved up a couple of weeks.

The dinner was at an amazing fondue restaurant with wonderful ambience, music, company, and food.  The first course small pieces of bread (like bruschetta) with a variety of condiments to put on it (baby onions, sun-dried tomatoes, green olives, cheese, ham chucks, mini red peppers).  After nibbling on these, pots of hot cheese were set on the table with baby potatoes, broccoli, bread cubes, and interesting chunks of Goiaba jam which was surprisingly delicious.
Then individual grills were set on the table with platters of thinly sliced beef, chicken and pork.  You could have as many platters of meat as you wanted.  twelve little bowls of sauces were available from sweet, to spicy, to savory.  Very good!  And that comes from someone who usually chooses not to eat much meat.

Then came the pots of rich chocolate sauce (Ann had white chocolate).  Pineapple, grapes, apples, oranges, papaya , melon, strawberries, and bananas were set before us.   Everyone of us ate far more than anyone should – but it was so good!  Our bill came to 222$ = $84.

Afterwards we stayed in Gramado to watch the lighting of all the Christmas lights.  At 9:00 pm, fireworks are fired into the air, and all the amazing Christmas lights come on at the same time.  Another late ride home and pleasant walk from the bus station.  I posted my very first picture to Facebook (I’m learning) and dropped into bed.
