Shopping, Flora, and Lunch

December 17 Wednesday
The typical morning ritual is to get up and study Portuguese, work on the computer, get ready for the day, and then eat breakfast.  D&A have been using a local artisan to mat and frame pictures from a Greg Olson calendar.  We walked to his little shop set back off the street a bit to take him some new pictures.

While they were working with him, Merl and I walked around his lot enjoying the plants and found a palm tree wrapped tightly with a big vine.  The root system was crazy!  (You have to know Merl to appreciate his fascination of plants and animals.)  We then walked into town to pick up some needed items – o rato sem fio (wireless mouse), lampada do secratário (desk lamp), protector solar (sunscreen), andto order a máguina de lavar roupa (washing machine - our current one is dying quickly).  We returned the language discs to Wizard; then it started to rain again.

We slipped inside a sandwich shop (Skillo Launches - the first place we ate at on our first trip) and ordered huge sandwiches – dough that is baked in a form with whatever filling you ordered.  Huge!  Made two meals for both Ann and me.  Walked home to get ready to go to the Branch Integration meeting in Sáo Francisco de Palo (SCP).
