Mini Mundo

December 15 Monday
Beautiful sunny day (got a good sunburn on the back of my neck and on Merl’s forehead).  It has been raining pretty much since we arrived.  Didn't know what to expect when the sun came out.  We are not official missionaries, but Monday is P-Day, and we decided to go back to Gramado to go to Mini Mundo (Little World).  You can google it to see more about it. We met up with Elder and Sister Copa (from San Francisco, CA) who provided the transportation for the day after our bus trip over to the city. Six of us needed to fit into their little car - so we took turns riding in the hatchback.  (Sister Copa went first.)

A German immigrant family (in the 1950’s) started making replicas of places they missed in Germany as a playground for their children.  It has developed into a major tourist attraction that we really enjoyed.

I have always like the Brazilian trash collecting system.  A place for everything.

We took the prompt to start our walk through Mini Mundo with a kiss.

A couple of panorama shots to try to capture the park.

This miniature replication was at an airport.  I think that is how I felt after our airport mis-adventures.

We had lunch at Subway (can’t go wrong there), walked around the city to take pictures and see some Christmas sightsand then went back to Canela with the Copas in time for Ann’s piano lessons.

We did our first batch of laundry using D&A’s machine in the laundry room on the main floor.  For some reason, it wouldn’t spin out the water and was bouncing all over the place.  Almost no one has clothes dryers here as they are very expensive to buy and then to operate.  Clothes are hung out to dry the old fashioned way, rain or shine.  It can take a long time for clothes to dry because random rain showers are prevalent.  We did purchase a drying rack to use indoors when it rains; it resides in our bedroom.  After dinner, we had a fun family home evening answering questions David had found about dating, proposals, and our relationship histories.
