After saying good-bye to Curt and Austin, we took a shuttle
to the Salt Lake Airport where we were helped by very friendly staff of Alaskan
Airlines. We boarded a small airplane
(two propellers with 96 seats) along with 13 other passengers. We were surprised at how low the plane flew
over the desolate landscape of Nevada.
The topography was amazing.
Flying over Lake Mead reminded us of the view flying over the country of
Italy. Good flight, all went well.
We landed in Las Vegas prepared to spend the next ten hours
waiting for the next flight. Time to
break out the licorice that Alicia was so kind to send us with. Can’t travel without licorice! We tried to rest and study Portuguese without
much success. Finally, late at night, we
watched a fun movie on the laptop – Christmas Kiss – and finished just as it
was time to board the plane to Miami at midnight.
